St. Francis of Assisi raises his bronze arms to heaven as his followers endure birds landing on their bodies in this public artwork in Rome, Italy.

The Basilica of Saint Peter is the most prominent building inside the Vatican City and traditionally the burial site of Saint Peter, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. Built between 1506 and 1626, the Basilica is possibly the largest church in Christianity with a capacity of over 60,000 people. The dome, or cupola, was designed by Michelangelo who became chief architect in 1546 and is a prominent feature of the Roman skyline.
